Soul Recovery Instructions
Soul Recovery is comprised of two 10ml bottles of essential oils in jojoba carrier oil, and one 10ml bottle of holy water from Lourdes, France. It is designed for those who have lost their enthusiasm for life due to illness, loss, betrayal or other traumatic event. The following protocol uses some of the most powerful points to resurrect, strengthen, clarify and support the spirit, as well as historically used essential oils to connect with the divine, frankincense and myrrh.
The following are recommended uses for Soul Recovery. We first recommend inhaling the essential oils of Myrrh and Frankincense through the nose, as the nose has a direct link to the limbic system via the olfactory tract. The limbic system is the seat of our emotions and memory, so the benefits of these aromas can have a positive effect on how we feel and behave in a short period of time. For instance, Frankincense and Myrrh have aromatic properties that address anxiety and worry due to their properties.
Secondly, we recommend applying Soul Recovery to specific acupuncture points on the body. The application of Soul Recovery is done using a simple technique called Aroma Touch Therapy or ATT. This technique uses fingers of the hand to apply the substances to the body. This protocol specifically uses 6 acupuncture points of the Kidney Meridian located on the chest, Kidney 24, Kidney 25 and Kidney 26, bilaterally. Each point has it’s pair on the other side of the chest for a total of 6 points. See diagram above.
Step 1:
Using your fingers, locate all points (KD24, 25, 26) on chest using diagram above. All points are approximately 2 inches from the center of the chest. (The clavicle or collar bone is a good landmark to help locate these points. Once you find your clavicle, it is easy to locate the ribs below it). The first rib is below the clavicle and the 2nd rib is below the 1st rib, the 3rd rib follows the 2nd rib down the chest. Your finger may feel small indentations that help identify the acupuncture points below the ribs in the intercostal spaces. All points are 2 cun or body inches bilaterally from center of the chest. Kidney26 (KD26) is located below the 1st rib. Kidney25 (KD25) is located below the 2nd rib, and Kidney24 (KD24) is located below the 3rd rib.
Step 2:
Once you have located your points, remove caps from all 3 bottles included in Soul Recovery.
Step 3:
We recommend applying Myrrh to KD24 to start. Tip bottle containing Myrrh and apply 1-2 drops to ring finger on one of your hands. Transfer the essential oil to other hand by gently pressing both ring fingers together. Lightly place ring fingers below third rib on KD24 on both sides of your chest. Hold for 1-2 minutes, closing your eyes and breathing deeply until you feel a shift.
Step 4:
Tip bottle containing Frankincense and apply 1-2 drops to middle finger on one of your hands. Transfer the essential oil to other hand by gently pressing both middle fingers together. Lightly place middle fingers below second rib on KD25 on both sides of your chest. Hold for 1-2 minutes, closing your eyes and breathing deeply until you feel a shift.
Step 5:
Tip bottle containing Holy Water and apply 1-2 drops to index finger on one of your hands. Transfer holy water to other hand by gently pressing both index fingers together. Lightly place index fingers below first rib on KD26 on both sides of your chest. Hold for 1-2 minutes, closing your eyes and breathing deeply until you feel a shift.
We recommend applying the protocol of Soul Recovery, three times a week, in a quiet, relaxing space, while taking slow, deep breaths. Email questions or comments to soulswaywellness@gmail.com.
Soul Recovery’s inspiration and beginnings were during the Pandemic of 2020. People not only became physically ill with CoVid19, but were also emotionally effected, because of the loss and separation from friends and loved ones. The pandemic left us facing a world of disconnection. This kind of event caused the suffering indicative of disconnection, loss and separation. In the face of this, many people turned inward and buried their feelings, hiding emotional symptoms of anger, depression, anxiety and hopelessness as well as physical symptoms of fatigue and pain. This is the ground that birthed the protocol that is Soul Recovery. Following are descriptions of the points used in the protocol and their benefits. The protocol uses some of the most powerful points to resurrect, strengthen, clarify and support the spirit. These points are on the Kidney Meridian of the chest. The benefits of the essential oils Frankincense and Myrrh are also highlighted.
Classical 5-Element Acupuncture
English translations of the following point names are those taught by Professor J.R. Worsley and appear in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, Volume 1: Meridians and Points by J.R. Worsley, Element Books, 1982.
KD24: Spirit Burial Ground
This point, in a category of its own, is capable of resurrecting a “dead” spirit. Although the spirit is eternal and cannot die, when one is so burdened or traumatized that one virtually has given up, it is as if the spirit is dead; gone, deeply buried and unreachable. This point has the ability to “open the ground”, resurrect, restore and revive one’s perception of spirit. It can reignite one’s passion for living and for embracing life.
In this protocol, Kidney 24 (KD24), is used with the essential oil Myrrh. Myrrh is paired with Spirit Burial Ground as this sacred herb unites the spiritual with the physical. It’s calm, centering and stabilizing effects allows the user to open up to the possibility of connection to self and the outside world. It can provide inner strength, security and protection when faced with challenges. Myrrh is helpful with worry, repetitive thinking, burnout and the inability to let go. It is helpful for those who feel fearful and disempowered as it strengthens and calms. Myrrh is drying in nature and should not be used in dry conditions or if pregnant, nursing or under the age of 16.
KD25: Spirit Storehouse
This spiritual point is the reservoir of nourishment, a reserve on which to call during hard times when one has very little from which to draw. Protracted illness, grief and pain can wear down one’s spiritual reserves until one feels empty, lacking the resources for the will or determination to carry on. This point is used for the fatigue that has no source or physical explanation. Thus the storehouse point is called upon to fill the reserves.
Frankincense is the essential oil paired with Spirit Storehouse, Kidney 25 (KD25) in this protocol. Frankincense is uplifting and it’s vulnerary properties makes it the perfect oil to heal all wounds, physical, spiritual, as well as psychological. It’s nervous and cerebral restorative properties address weak conditions with mental and physical fatigue, such as depression and despair. Frankincense brings clarity or focused contemplation in situations that beg for spiritual inspiration. Frankincense transcends time while being in the present giving one insights on which to move forward. Frankincense should not be used by persons under 16 or if pregnant or nursing.
KD26: Amidst Elegance
When one sees through the eyes of spirit, one sees beauty, elegance and the perfection of natural law, the divine in everything. This is not a naive way of looking at the world, but instead a way of seeing beyond the imbalances and evils to the essential goodness. One uses this point to combat cynicism, pessimism, discouragement or to help those going through the motions, living a life of mediocrity instead of seeing the glory and grandeur of living in the here and now.
The Holy Water from Lourdes, France is paired with this point to open one’s eyes to seeing as the divine. One does not have to believe in the following story in order to benefit from the idea of a sacred healing power.
This holy water flows from a spring of the grotto of Massabielle in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, France. According to Catholic tradition, the Blessed Virgin Mary described the grotto to Bernadette Soubirous on February 25, 1858. Bernadette was told to drink and bath from the grotto as well as eat an herb from the spring for penance. Since that time, the water began to run clear and many have made the pilgrimage to drink and bathe in the water as instructed by the Lady of Lourdes. Some numbers have claimed cures after doing so. Today the holy water from Lourdes is irradiated.
The dilutions used of the essential oils in this protocol are not recommended to be used over a large area of the body. Appropriately dilute with jojoba or another carrier oil to use in this manner. Pose questions or comments by email to soulswaywellness@gmail.com.
